Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABBAE) provided a physical needs assessment on an historic University building.

ABBAE was retained by IS Architecture to provide a reconstruction feasibility study for the University House at the University of California San Diego (UCSD).

ABBAE’s scope of work included investigation and assessment of the roofing systems, exterior walls and foundation waterproofing. Upon completion we provided a report to UCSD with our findings including repair recommendations and construction estimate.

The University House was built in 1952 as a private residence and purchased by UCSD in 1967. It was used as a residence for chancellors until it was closed in 2004 due to structural and code issues. In 2007 the State Historical Resources Commission voted to recognize University House as a historic building based on its period architecture and significance as a Native American archaeological site.
