UC San Francisco – Moffitt Hospital Re-Roofing

Allana Buick & Bers was retained by the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) to provide investigation and design services for the Moffitt/Long Hospital on the Parnassus Campus of UCSF in San Francisco.

Moffitt Hospital has a seven-story and a 16-story tower and shares an expansion joint with the adjacent Long Hospital. Each tower contains a mechanical penthouse. Moffitt is clad with glazed terra cotta tile and aluminum windows. The total roof area is estimated at 22,000 SF.

ABB prepared design and construction documents for the removal and replacement of designated roofing, removal of designated equipment and supports. We installed a cold process MB built-up roofing system, granule surfaced, specified flashings and accessories and installation of walk-pads at all roof access locations. Minor modifications to the roof-mounted mechanical, electrical and plumbing components.

ABB  worked with the client and OSHPD to ensure the drawings were approved in a timely manner. The building was occupied during construction.
