UC Berkeley – Giannini Hall / Wellman Hall

Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was retained by the University of California (University) to provide investigation and design services for tile roof, skylight and gutter replacement on two historic campus buildings.

Giannini Hall was completed in 1928 and houses the Department of Agricultural Economics. It has three floors above-ground and a full basement. Wellman Hall is a four-story building completed in 1912 which houses Environmental Science, Policy and Management.

ABB performed detailed investigation of the roof systems, skylights and gutters for each building. Based on report recommendations, the University directed us to provide remedial design and construction documents. Giannini Hall will have both the flat and tile roof sections and the gutters restored. Wellman Hall will have the tile roof and gutters replaced.

ABB provided bid support and construction administration services for the repair work done to both buildings.

Both Giannini and Wellman Hall are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
