The Waikiki EDITION Hotel

Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was retained to provide waterproofing peer review services for the renovation of a large hospitality project in Honolulu.

Formerly named the Ilikai Yacht Harbor Tower, the 18-story concrete building has 360 rooms and was built in 1964. It reopened for business in 2009 and DWRB Architects were retained by the new owners to design a complete rehabilitation. Renamed under new ownership, this is the first EDITION Hotel that marks the next chapter in the lifestyle hotel story. The new brand was conceived by Ian Schrager in a partnership with Marriott International. The Waikiki EDITION is included in the Waikiki Special Design District.

ABB provided peer review services for the waterproofing design of the swimming pool area recreation decks, construction administration, and full-time construction monitoring services.

Features include below-grade waterproofing, planters, landscaping, and a plaza podium deck. The renovated project now has 322 rooms and 31 suites.
