San Jose State University – Student Services Center
Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was retained by San Jose State University (SJSU) to conduct a forensic investigation of reoccurring leaks at the Student Services Center.
The Student Services Center is a six-level concrete parking structure that was originally built in 1971. Modifications including seismic upgrades were performed in 1994. The renovation of the first level to provide room for the center was completed in 2000.
ABB’s scope of work included field investigation and testing, recommendations for repair and estimated repair costs for each option. We provided the construction documents and construction administration for the repair work. The construction schedule was accelerated due to the shortage of parking at SJSU and year-round occupation of the Student Services Center. Work had to be done as quickly as possible to minimize disruption to students, faculty and staff.
