San Jose International Airport – Terminal Expansion

Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB), was retained by the City of San Jose to provide third-party building enclosure review and construction period services for a significant new passenger terminal expansion of the Norman J. Mineta International Airport located in San Jose, California.

The new $1 billion North Concourse Terminal Building was completed in June 2009.

ABB provided third party review of proposed below grade waterproofing systems, rain barrier metal panel, cement plaster and curtain wall systems, curved skylight assemblies and single ply roofing systems.

ABB provided the City of San Jose with valuable technical advice during the mock-up and laboratory testing of unique curved skylights for the facility. Once constructed, ABB developed in-situ testing protocol for the curved skylights and assisted the project architect and skylight manufacturer in adjusting the skylight construction for maximum performance.

During building construction, ABB provided full-time construction monitoring of below grade waterproofing installation and single-ply roof installation. ABB also developed and monitored in-situ spray testing protocols for the unique multi-layer facade system.
