San Francisco International Airport
Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) performed professional services for the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) under a five-year continuing contract. Scope included design, construction documents, and construction phase services.
ABB performed an extensive leak investigation of the South Terminal and associated boarding areas. With over 40 million passengers traveling through the airport annually, it was vital to get the buildings watertight before the winter and rainy season. ABB provided remedial design and construction documents to repair the more than 180 documented leak sources. Utilizing contractors under contract with SFO, ABB managed temporary repair of the leak sources.
ABB was subsequently awarded the contract to design and manage the roof replacement and permanent repair of all the leak sources. In addition to the roof replacement, scope included insulation upgrade, mechanical equipment supports, drainage improvements, wall waterproofing, skylight modifications, and metal wall panel and curtain wall restoration.
The design and construction portions of this project had extremely tight time schedules and significant coordination issues due to the 24-hour nature of airport operations. ABB met all project milestones on time and on budget.
