Pennsylvania State University – Millennium Science Complex
Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was retained by Rafael Vinoly Architects to provide roofing, below-grade waterproofing and exterior wall systems consulting for the Science Complex at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) in State College, Pennsylvania.
The Millennium Science Complex is a multi-functional 275,600 SF building that will encompass two scientific research wings: Materials and Life Sciences. The three-story building will have two intersecting wings and a partial basement. The lower-level spaces will be dedicated to scientific research labs requiring vibration free isolation systems, and controlled temperature and humidity environments.
The team is pursuing LEED Gold Certification, and the project will have more than 1.4 acres of green roof area that should provide significant reduction in storm water runoff and other environmental benefits.
