Napa State Hospital

Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB), was retained by the State of California, Department of General Services (DGS) to provide design and consulting services for the roof replacement project at Napa State Hospital Building 197 located in Napa, California.

Napa State Hospital, founded in 1875, planned to demolish the existing 85,000 square foot roof, and asked ABB to investigate the existing roof conditions, design a new roof, and assist with removal and reinstallation of mechanical and electrical components.

ABB provided design, bidding, and limited construction phase services for this project. We attended project meetings and site visits, performed observations, and developed testing protocols for the selected areas to be destructively testing. Based on the test results, ABB prepared drawings, made repairs, and provided design recommendations. ABB also performed value engineering and verified that the roof complied with California State Fire Marshall Regulations, Title 19, California Building Standards Code, Title 24, and the California Code of Regulations. The construction of this project took place in a secured treatment area. As such, ABB took all necessary precautions to limit disruption to both the patients and staff.
