Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABBAE) was retained by an attorney to provide leak investigation services for construction defects at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Sacramento.
The Embassy Suites is located in downtown Sacramento, adjacent to Old Sacramento. The eight-story concrete building includes a below-level parking garage, interior swimming pool, plaza decks, meeting rooms and restaurant facilities. Exterior cladding is an Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS).
ABBAE was retained by the law firm to provide leak investigation, water testing and a building envelope survey, including the window and EIFS assemblies. Selected destructive testing was also performed by a contractor under ABBAE supervision and following a statistically-based random sampling method.
ABBAE conducted a mechanical system survey and identified defects in the building ventilation systems that posed fire and smoke hazards and also indoor air quality deficiencies.
The report issued by ABBAE identified the below-grade parking structure walls and ceilings, as well as window assemblies as the leak sources. The cause of the leaks were also identified with ABBAE working closely with the attorneys to determine the cause(s) of the leaks.
