Claremont McKenna College – Kravis Center
Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was initially retained by the College’s Director of Construction to perform a peer review of the below grade waterproofing. As the project progressed ABB was requested to perform a complete Peer Review of the entire building envelope as well as provide construction monitoring services for the roofing and podium waterproofing systems.
The Kravis Center is a newly constructed LEED-certified Silver facility designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects. The Kravis Center consists of a five-levels, 162,000 SF of academic classrooms and administrative offices and will serve as the western gateway to the Claremont McKenna campus. The overall project also includes a unique glass supported living roof, underground parking, and outdoor courtyards.
This project created considerably more usable space by excavating the site and providing a below grade parking garage as well as classrooms and financial aid offices located underneath the campus mall.
