City of Thousand Oaks – 401 / 403 Hillcrest
Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was retained by the City of Thousand Oaks to provide water intrusion mitigation and solar photovoltaic (PV) design services for a City Building.
The Conejo Recreation and Park District Building is a single story concrete building with a rooftop parking deck constructed in the 1970s. The building houses a theater, common rooms and offices, it’s largest tenant is the City’s Recreation and Parks Department.
ABB provided leak investigation and assessment service to determine the source of the roof deck leaks that were damaging the interior spaces below. Upon identification of the leak sources, ABB prepared remedial design and construction documents for repair. The scope was extended to include Solar PV planning, system engineering and construction documents.
As part of the expanded scope of work, ABB determined the solar PV energy potential, perform detailed energy and life-cycle cost analysis and size systems accordingly. This includes design and engineering the installation of PV systems onto multiple roof deck parking structures for the City. Post-tension construction creates numerous highly technical challenges on the engineering, design and installation phases.
