University of Hawaii – West O’ahu Campus

Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB), was retained by the John Hara & Associates (John Hara) and AC Kobayashi to provide Building Envelope Consulting Services to six (6) buildings on the University of Hawaii (UH) – West O’ahu Campus.

The newly constructed two story UH Buildings, which host over 1,500 students a day were built with reinforced concrete with Standing Steam Metal roofs. Construction took place on 202 acres and the buildings have reached a total of 215,000 SF.

John Hara retained ABB during phase one of this project to provide peer review consulting services for waterproofing related issues. ABB provided Peer Review of the Schematic Design and Construction Documents pertaining to the below grade waterproofing and slab on grade.

AC Kobayashi retained ABB for a limited series of moisture tests of the new concrete building. The tests were conducted to determine the concretes calcium chloride content. ABB’s evaluation was performed visually without destructive testing.
