Gilcrease Museum
Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) was retained by Flintco, LLC to provide third-party building envelope testing and limited commissioning (BECx) services for the new Gilcrease Museum located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The project included the demolition of the original three-story structure and construction of a new museum with four stories above grade and one below, built into a hillside. The facility includes galleries, classrooms, offices, and collections storage.
Given the sensitivity of the museum’s contents, moisture and vapor control were a top priority. ABB provided peer review of exterior enclosure details, verifying the use of both permeable and nonpermeable air barriers. ABB also conducted mock-up and in-situ testing of air/water barriers, curtain walls, sealants, roofing, and transitions.
A key technical challenge was ensuring the continuity of the weather resistive barrier at seams, terminations, and penetrations. ABB’s oversight helped identify and correct potential failure points during construction. ABB’s involvement supported a watertight, high-performance enclosure, contributing to long-term durability and protection of the museum’s structure and artifacts. The project reinforces the value of early design input, detailed specifications, and consistent QA/QC
