Allana Buick and Bers, Inc. (ABBAE) was retained by MCG Architects (MCGA) to provide waterproofing and vapor barrier consulting services for the construction of a new Safeway store located in Mountain View, California.

San Antonio Plaza Safeway is a new 65,000 SF single story steel and concrete framed retail grocery store. The exterior cladding is primarily cement plaster constructed over light gauge steel or wood framing. The roof structure will provide parking for 150 vehicles.  The project foundation is a combination of conventional reinforced concrete spread footings and column piers with a cast-in-place floor slab.

ABBAE services included review of existing project reports, drawings, plans and other information provided by MCGA. ABBAE provided design development, detailed specifications and recommendations regarding proper vapor barrier and parking deck waterproofing systems. Construction administration and monitoring services were also provided for the duration of the project to observe that the vapor barrier and roofing assemblies that Safeway purchased were installed according to the design intent.
