Division of the State Architect (DSA) Experience

Allana Buick & Bers provides Educational Campuses a full range of services from design development and construction documents, through construction administration for buildings of all types.

We have demonstrated ability to provide sound budgeting strategies and construction plans for capital modernization, rehabilitation, and upgrades. Allana Buick & Bers has experience coordinating with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and other agencies to get the rehabilitation or new construction project completed.

We have extensive experience understanding DSA’s fire code issues and design, structural issues and design, mechanical issues and design, need for clarity of details, requirements for size of details and perspective of the details on the plan sheets, presenting the details for constructability, and dealing with related design issues on new construction and replacement projects.

Building components that Allana Buick & Bers has budgeted, investigated, designed, and inspected in the field include: concrete, structural concrete, traffic coatings, other coatings, sealants, metal and flexible flashings, chillers, freezers, concrete, wood, waterproofing, roofing, building envelope, Photovoltaic (PV) installations and many other building components.

All projects had a very short window of completion and we have  minimized project scope and schedule creep by clearly determining what the District wanted, early in the design process, with strict conformance to budgets.  Clarity of details allowed quick DSA review and approval.

We have historically reduced the number of change orders to keep costs within the budget and reduce DSA-related documentation, but more importantly, to meet DSA and District requirements.
