Karim Allana, PE, RWC, RRC
President, CEO,
Senior Principal

Since 1987 Karim P. Allana has served as CEO and Senior Principal of Allana Buick & Bers, Inc.  He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University. Mr. Allana is a licensed professional engineer in California, Hawaii, Oregon and Nevada and is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) and Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) through RCI.

Mr. Allana has been in the construction field for over 35 years, specializing in forensic analysis of construction and sustainable design of building envelope systems, roofing and waterproofing construction, and construction management. For the past 30 years, Mr. Allana has been the president and chief technical expert/engineer of Allana Buick & Bers. Mr. Allana has been responsible for planning and administration of the company as well as serving as principal consultant in forensic investigations of building assemblies and failure analysis. Mr. Allana has acted as a consultant and expert witness in over 300 construction defect projects as a lead plaintiff expert, lead defense expert, consultant or in defense of sub-contractors and manufacturers.

Eugene Buick, PE
COO, Principal

Eugene Buick is Principal and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. He earned a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University, and is a licensed professional engineer in California and Hawaii. Mr. Buick has been with the firm for over 10 years and has over 20 years of experience in the architectural engineering and construction industries.

As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Buick is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the investigation, design, construction administration and construction activities of over 200 projects per year. Mr. Buick’s expertise is in the following areas: building envelope condition assessments, property condition assessments, leak testing and analysis, programming and conceptual design, design development, preparation of construction documents and details, construction administration, submittal review and acceptance, response to requests for information, construction monitoring, peer review and other services for a wide range of building types, construction, building envelope components and building systems.

Gerson Bers, LEED AP

Since 2002, Gerson Bers has served as Principal of Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park where he received a B.S. in Physical Sciences. Mr. Bers holds a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Professional Certification.

Mr. Bers has been with Allana Buick & Bers for over 10 years and has over 30 years of experience in the architectural, engineering and construction industries. Mr. Bers is a Principal of the firm and is responsible for providing below-grade and podium waterproofing investigation and design recommendations. Mr. Bers is also responsible for directing forensic and remedial investigations of existing facilities, as well as coordination of the professional services of staff and sub-consultant architects, engineers and scientists.

Associate Principals

Joseph Higgins, PE
Associate Principal / Hawaii Operations Manager

Mr. Higgins has over 26 years of experience with the engineering, installation, and service of building mechanical systems. He is responsible for supervising all projects throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

Mr. Higgins is responsible for all operations out of ABBAE’s Hawaii office. Mr. Higgins is the lead mechanical engineer responsible for managing construction projects. He conducts project investigations, performs sampling and testing analysis, provides quality assurance monitoring, and prepares construction documents. Mr. Higgins has expertise in the replacement and upgrade of building HVAC systems, Plumbing and Piping Systems, Energy Management Systems, Solar Thermal and Solar PV systems, and Energy Audits.

Jerome Jeffers II, RBEC, CCS, CCCA
Associate Principal

Mr. Jeffers is responsible for the development of design solutions and the manager of ABBAE’s design staff. Mr. Jeffers is in charge of contract document preparation, quality assurance programs, and other design-associated management duties. He is a leader in the development of standard operating procedures for design projects that incorporate the communication, documentation, quality assurance, and quality control required to meet the firm’s expectations for client service and design excellence.

Mr. Jeffers has over 30 years of experience in design services for the building industry. His waterproofing experience encompasses a wide variety of projects including below grade, split slab, pedestrian, mechanical room, vehicular deck, and exterior wall. His building envelope experience includes design for renovations to exterior wall systems such as siding, stucco, cement plaster, pre-cast concrete and masonry. Mr. Jeffers provides solutions to building weatherization issues and deterioration to building structures including stairs, landings, and balconies. Mr. Jeffers has earned the Registered Building Envelope Consultant (RBEC) certification, the most prestigious certification for the roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope consultant practice.

Petersen Lambert, PE
Associate Principal

Mr. Lambert provides building envelope, roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall systems expertise for both existing buildings and new construction. He oversees project planning, production, and team and client management for the region. He is also the lead technical expert for the Seattle office, providing quality control/quality assurance and construction administration services.

Mr. Lambert has been with ABBAE since 2001. Prior to opening the Seattle office, he opened and managed the Los Angeles office. His experience includes management of investigation, design, bid support, and construction administration and management for new construction and renovation projects. Mr. Lambert specializes in identifying and resolving complex waterproofing issues during construction.
